Campers work in skills groups — shooting, rebounding, passing — with volunteer coaches and counsellors, then step off the court for life-skills sessions. In 2023 that included a mobile classroom on nutrition and healthy eating run by Healthy Hoops, a programme of the insurer AmeriHealth Caritas. In Franklin's words: “We teach kids how to play basketball but more importantly we teach them about the importance of life, making great decisions in life and being successful in life.”

Yes. Crissa “Ace” Jackson met Franklin at his Harrisburg basketball camp when she was eleven or twelve. He later invited her to a Globetrotters tryout in Philadelphia, and in late 2015 she became the 13th woman in history to play for the team.
